What the ballistics calculator can prove

The ballistics calculator proves flat-map geometry from four entered coordinates. It subtracts the origin from the target, measures straight-line range, and calculates clockwise bearing from north. It then expresses that same bearing in degrees, NATO 6400 mils, and Warsaw Pact 6000 mils. These outputs follow public mathematics and do not depend on an IRON NEST ballistic formula.

The ballistics calculator validates every input at the boundary. Blank values, non-finite values, and a target that coincides with the origin produce a named error instead of a result. The calculator keeps valid fields in place so you can repair one value without rebuilding the form.

What the ballistics calculator will not guess

Map range is not automatically charge or elevation. Those game outputs depend on IRON NEST data that must be observed in the current build with explicit units. The ballistics calculator checks the qualified firing table after geometry. If the selected shell has no current tool-safe row, it states that game-specific output is withheld.

The ballistics calculator also refuses interpolation. Even if future evidence provides two qualified ranges, an intermediate value does not become safe automatically. A curve or formula would need separate evidence. Until then, the calculator returns an exact row only and directs you to the current in-game calculator for every other range.

Enter the correct origin

The origin must be the point from which you need the final firing bearing and range. For a turret solution, enter the Nest coordinates. A spotter report uses its own origin and must first be projected to a target. If you enter the spotter as the ballistics origin, the result can be mathematically correct and operationally wrong.

Use the firing planner when a report gives bearing and distance instead of target coordinates. That tool projects the target, then measures from the Nest. Copy its target coordinates into this ballistics calculator only if you need the extra mil conventions or an exact firing-table check.

Read the bearing conventions

The ballistics bearing is clockwise from north. Zero points north, ninety points east, one hundred eighty points south, and two hundred seventy points west. The calculator leaves a northward zero as zero rather than printing a full circle. The equivalent NATO and Warsaw values describe the same direction with different circle sizes.

A NATO mil value and a Warsaw mil value are not interchangeable. The label remains attached to both ballistics outputs. Do not copy a bare mil number into the game unless the current interface identifies its convention. Use the dedicated mils converter for a known labelled angle.

Read a qualified game result

An available game-specific result shows shell name, exact qualified range, charge, elevation, unit, evidence label, build, and source. The result is tied to the selected shell and calculated range. Changing a coordinate reruns the ballistics check. Changing the shell reruns it without sending either choice to a server.

An unavailable result names one of three reasons. Unknown shell means the slug is absent from the qualified catalog. Missing tool-safe data means the shell exists but lacks the required current fields. No exact range means qualified rows exist, but none matches the calculated range. Each state is actionable and avoids a fabricated number.

Use ballistics output in a firing card

Copy the geometry range and bearing to a firing card with clear units. Read charge and elevation from the current game whenever this ballistics calculator withholds them. Record the shell label shown by the game, because a role or nickname can be confused with another ammunition entry. Keep the source build beside any public table value.

After firing, record hit, short, long, left, right, or wrong effect in the private planner. Observation helps diagnose transfer mistakes. It does not modify the public ballistics dataset. A local result cannot promote a value to tool safe because publication requires repeatable captured evidence.

Ballistics privacy and updates

This ballistics calculator runs in the browser. Coordinates, shell selection, range, bearing, and game-result state are not stored, uploaded, or included in analytics. Reset restores the labelled example. Reload clears the form unless the browser itself restores a field.

The qualified ballistics rows are embedded during the static site build. The daily content workflow can update the snapshot after source checks, tests, and a successful deployment gate. A failed update leaves the previous production calculator active. Review the source ledger and build ledger when a live game value disagrees.

Run the ballistics audit in order

Begin the ballistics check with source coordinates. Confirm the ballistics origin, target, north direction, and map scale. Calculate the transparent ballistics geometry, then compare the direction with the map. Next choose a shell and inspect the game-specific ballistics state. If an exact ballistics row appears, read its range, charge, elevation, units, build, and source as one record. Do not combine one ballistics range with another shell's charge. Do not convert ballistics elevation as if it were a map bearing. After transfer, keep the ballistics card and impact observation together. This ballistics order makes a discrepancy easier to isolate without turning a miss into a new public formula.
